Join Leia Layus & Christie Rafanan for a 2-part workshop: an inward journey exploring the obstacles of both body and mind. We will use two opposing, yet balancing practices to burn the seeds of our old tendencies or patterns - freeing ourselves from the fears of these binding stories - and creating the space needed to grow while building the courage to trust that anything we put our minds to can - and will! - manifest. Come and connect deeply to your inner teacher.
Day 1 : FRIDAY, January 13th, 7pm-9pm
We will explore a ‘tapas’ practice. Tapas means self-discipline, meditation, and a means of inner self-purification (perfection of the body and the organs through the lessening of impurities). In this fiery practice, we will delve into a vigorous and dynamic flow building inner heat, exploring twists and arm balances (and probably a handstand or two!) taking a close look at the binding stories we tell ourselves and burning them in the fire of our practice.
Day 2 : SATURDAY, January 14th, 5pm-7pm
We will round out the weekend with a ‘sattvic’ practice. Sattva is the quality of balance, harmony, purity, & positive attitude. This nourishing practice will be a counter to the fiery vigorous practice of Friday evening as we move through a methodic flow of heart and hip openers. This practice is designed to ease and nourish the mindbody allowing us to plant new seeds of what we truly want to manifest in our lives.
COST: $50/per workshop**
**A portion of the proceeds will be donated to San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center (http://sfcapc.org); please share this event with your friends and family so that we can help raise awareness and funds to support San Francisco's at-risk youth. We believe if we can empower our youth with self-study, compassion and love, then we can create positive change for the future.**
